My bias may be coming into play here, but I think you’d be hard pressed to find a gym space as unique as our very own Strong + Bendy!! If you haven’t visited us yet, let me paint a picture for you: A secret garden style entrance with a canopy of vines, graffiti murals of our longstanding members (painted by acclaimed artist Zabou), a purpose-built outdoor fitness garden with a tall willow tree at its centre, a beautiful indoor space that looks out on further greenery, gorgeous artwork on the walls and bright, bold décor with a colour scheme to die for. Our classes can be as unique as the space itself – for example we are the only gym in the world to have Battle Rope classes led by the Battle Ropes Guinness World Record holder herself, our wonderful founder Rhian!
We love that Frame has a similar ethos to Strong + Bendy, which includes the opinion that fitness can be FUN. Think 80’s aerobics, Dolly Parton dances and routines to make you feel like you’re in a music video! They have different spaces around London so check them out to see what’s near you.
Maybe you’ve tried out a boxing class at S+B with our professional boxers Jay and Anika, and now want to make it your thing? Well, if you’re looking for an interesting place to box on a more regular basis then Kobox is that! They describe the aesthetic of their underground studio space as ‘fight club meets nightclub’ – very cool, dark and moody with neon lights. They’re in Waterloo, Chelsea, Marylebone and the City.
If swanky luxury is what you’re after in a gym space, then Equinox is worth looking into. They describe themselves as ‘the place where high performers come to be their best’ and have a variety of different class options to choose from, as well as PT sessions and a high-end spa.
A free workout option in Hackney is the gym equipment you can find in public park locations, all courtesy of The Great Outdoor Gym Company. TGOC equipment generates energy when used and the company plants trees for every gym space they set up – a great way to help the environment whilst you work out!
