It might be helpful to start with what TRX stands for – Total Body Resistance Exercise. A TRX is a simple but really effective piece of equipment that allows you to push and pull against your own body weight to build strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, core and joint stability.
The original TRX device was created by Randy Hetrick utilizing a ju-jitsu belt and trapped behind a closed door. Whilst deployed as a Navy Seal Randy had minimum space and no equipment to help him stay in shape, so he came up with the makeshift device and began developing total body workouts.
It’s common to see a TRX hanging up in most gyms, it’s less common to see a studio that runs classes where each person has their own TRX all the way through the class- that’s what we do at Strong + Bendy! What’s even more unusual is the beautiful environment we run our East London TRX classes in.
The founder of TRX says “People who like yoga and Pilates tend to like TRX because there are some crossovers. But it’s also great for runners, cyclists, or anyone who is an endurance athlete and wants to have more strength training.”
More information about all the TRX classes we run in a week can be found on our timetable by clicking here.
