Best Hackney Wick Brunch Spots

By Faye Bell (Studio Founder)

Where’s the best place for brunch in Hackney Wick?

We’re so proud to be part of a thriving community of independent businesses in Hackney Wick. Here’s some of our favourite places to re-charge and grab brunch after a class at Strong + Bendy.

1.Thingy: coffee & light bite brunch

Got to start with a shout-out to our incredible neighbours Thingy. George makes the best coffee in London and they’ve more recently branched into great food. Hearty bagels and baps, vegan dhals, croissants and more.

1 Trowbridge Road, Hackney Wick. Check out the menu here.

2. Pearl: generous hearty portions

If you go to Pearl for brunch, make sure you go very hungry (ideally right after a class at Strong + Bendy!) as the brunch portions are really generous. Our personal fav is the Big Brekkie made vegan by swapping out the eggs for Tofu scramble….but Meat Eaters and Vegans alike will be happy with the hearty options.

The food’s awesome, but the people watching is better at Pearl: every time I visit I promise myself I’ll start wearing something that isn’t these leggings all the time!

3 minute walk from Strong + Bendy. Prince Edward Road, Hackney Wick

3. Mother: Organic, plant based….and insanely tatsy!

Head down to Mother on the canal by Hear East on the edge of the Olympic Park and soak up some holiday vibes all year round 🙂

Hearty and varied vegan menu and a beautiful canal-side location. If it’s a cold day the Vegan Cheeze toastie is awesome to get warmed up after a class in our outdoor exercise garden. But it’s their smoothies we’re most obsessed with. I was once told our battle ropes class is so tough it stopped a member from being able to use a knife and fork the next day due to arm-burn…..a smoothie is the answer to that problem!

They’ve also recently started to do Tacos….they’re so popular that last time I headed down they’d sold out!

5 minute walk from Strong + Bendy. Canaldside, Here East, Hackney Wick

4. Barge East: Floating Bar and Kitchen

This place isn’t ranked one of the best restaurants in the whole of London on Trip Advisor for nothing! What started as a small restaurant on a canal boat has expanded to include a covered and heated terrace and an outdoor garden that dominates the banks of the canal side in Hackney Wick. Barge East manages to feel unpretentious but special at the same time (yes – you could still go wearing your fitness gear after a class at Strong + Bendy!). There’s the option to dine on the boat or on the bankside.

Get booked in for their bottomless brunch.

6 minute walk from Strong + Bendy. Canalside, just off White Post Lane.

Don’t forget to try one of our yoga classes before brunch!

More information about the different types of yoga we offer can be found here.
