Why the term ‘Summer Body’ is toxic
Gyms and fitness studios need to stop using the term ‘Summer Body’. It’s that time of year when gyms and fitness studios will start selling ‘plans’; Summer Body, Beach Body, Bikini Body ready and so on. It’s important to recognise that this isn’t just a cheap marketing ploy, it has the potential to be deeply harmful, both physically and mentally.

Jas, John, Sarah, Tiff, Chloe and Jo were some of our first members – people who supported us when there was no fancy outdoor gym or cool equipment, just a temporary studio space and us trying to do something different in the fitness industry!

Is Strong + Bendy Wheelchair Accessible?
Yes! The closest station to Strong + Bendy is Hackney Wick which has step-free access. We also have street parking (max stay 2 hours) out the front of the studio and a private parking space (please email in advance to book it with rhian@strongandbendy.co.uk).

New to exercise?
What classes are suitable if I’m new to exercise?
We welcome all fitness levels in all of our classes.
However, each class does differ in intensity and the type of equipment used, so below is more information on each class to help you make an informed choice on the right class for you.
Feel free to come to a class a little earlier if you’d like to have a chat with the teacher about what’s coming up in the class. They will make sure there’s modifications available if there’s something you feel you can’t or don’t want to partake in.
You don’t need transforming
Ever been promised a total transformation by your gym? Been shown ‘before and after’ shots of the amazing new body you could have? Bribed with schemes where you pay upfront and get your money back if you lose enough weight?
Repeatedly we are told; ‘you are not good enough’. Gyms and brands create an unrealistic ideal of how you are supposed to look and then sell you the ‘answer’; a cycle of false promises, inevitable disappointment and a feeling of failing.
